Welcome to the first edition of our biweekly PTC newsletter. We held our first PTC meeting of the year on Wednesday and had a great turnout of administrators, teachers, and parents.

Walkerthon is September 24
Walkerthon is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It supports all of the PTC's programs, including Field Day, Trunk or Treat, Art Literacy, Mystery Science, Reading Week, teacher grants, and field trip access, along with the other services that make our school community stronger. Our goal this year is to raise $40,000.
📩 Student fundraising packets are coming home with students. Get creative with your fundraising: have your kid make a video to send around, ask your favorite local businesses, or check whether your employer offers a company match.
How to donate
Donations can be made by cash, check, or online through Zeffy. All donations are tax deductible, and donations made through Zeffy get a receipt automatically. Our tax ID is 26-3542951.
Every student who returns a packet is entered in a raffle, even if the packet is empty, and the classes that raise the most money will get a class party. If you have prizes to donate, email williamwalkerptc@gmail.com.
🙌 Volunteer sign-ups: Timeslots to volunteer will be posted on ParentSquare. Please sign up if you are Raptor approved.
😎 Spectators: If you are not able to volunteer, you can still come watch and cheer.

- 9:45 a.m. - First Grade, Second Grade, Pre-K AM
- 10:40 a.m. - Fifth Grade, ISC (Teacher Zach, Teacher Shannon)
- 12:20 p.m. - Kindergarten, ISC (Teacher Amy)
- 1:15 p.m. - Third Grade, Fourth Grade, Pre-K PM
Whether you give funds, volunteer at the event, or simply show up and cheer, you are part of what makes this day the best one on the fall calendar.
Other ways to support our students
These take a few minutes to set up and then work in the background all year.
- Fred Meyer Community Rewards - Link your Fred Meyer Rewards Card to William Walker PTC and a slice of what you already spend comes back to the school, with no change to your fuel points or rewards. You need a Fred Meyer account, then enroll in Community Rewards by searching for William Walker PTC or using our NPO number WB669.
- Washington Square - Shop or dine at Washington Square between now and March 31 and submit receipts at school-cents.com. William Walker will earn a piece of $15,000.
- Office Depot - Give William Walker's school ID 70243444 when you pay for any in-store or phone order, and the school earns credits worth 5% of your purchase.
- Box Tops for Education - It is an app. Use referral code DNCB7KA2 for an extra $10 bonus and pick William Walker Elementary as your school. Buy participating products and scan your receipt in the app within 14 days, or link your Walmart account and skip the scanning entirely.
- Employer matching - Many local companies match donations, including Adidas, Alaska Airlines, Apple, Columbia, Google, Intel, Kaiser, Microsoft, and Nike. This is extra valuable as we gear up for Walkerthon.
Volunteer with us
Volunteering can be one hour or it can be more, during school hours or outside of them. Some of the ways people help:
- Supervising field trips
- Presenting Art Literacy lessons six times a year
- Supporting teachers directly with prep work or small reading and math groups
- Joining the fundraising committee
- Helping at events like Walkerthon and Field Day
No experience is necessary for any volunteer role, though you do need to be approved through Raptor. Whatever your talents, reach out to williamwalkervolunteer@gmail.com with questions.

Join our next PTC meeting
Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 7 from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m. at William Walker. 📅 Meetings are on the first Wednesday of every month, and you can add them to your calendar.
Here is what to expect:
- 🍕 Pizza will be served. Come hungry, there is no need to bring anything.
- 🎨 Children are welcome. We set up a children's corner with coloring pages, cars, and other activities in the same room, so kids can play while you listen in. Children remain in their adult's care.
- 🌐 Spanish translation is available.
- 💻 Can't make it in person? Join us virtually. We share a meeting link the day before.
No experience or commitment is required. This is just a great way to be part of the William Walker community, and we are looking forward to meeting you.
